Bro. Bobby Tinnion
Purpose: To encourage growth spiritually and numerically to South Central through the execution of education and evangelism, modeling after the ‘great commission’ Matthew 28:18-20.
Bro. Bobby Tinnion is happily married to Jacquelyn Tinnion and they have one daughter, Dr. T. Jatun Thompson. Bro. Tinnion grew up in Dallas, TX and graduated from H. Grady Spruce high school, and thereafter obtained a double major in Music Education and Vocal Performance at Southern Methodist University. He received his Bachelor of Music degree in all level education in 1989. Growing up in the southern sector of Dallas, Bro. Tinnion always maintained a deep passion for helping others within that under served region. As a result of his passion, he has and continues to mentor and sponsor individuals which has afforded him opportunities to excel in ministry.
Bro. Tinnion was mentored and trained to become the youth minister by Bro. Arthur Graves who continually delegated more responsibility toward working with the youth program. In 1994, Bro. Tinnion was appointed as Youth Minister at South Central.
Bro. Tinnion was then mentored, tutored and coached by Bro. Elbert Washington, previous minister, until his death in 2007. Bro. Washington appointed Bro. Tinnion as his assistant, willed his full library from his studies, pulpit commentaries, videos and material from the Brown Trail School of Preaching, in order to continue his studies and development as a gospel preacher. He continued as assistant minister until accepting the senior minister position in 2010.
